Score Pending — Limited Data

We do not currently have enough commercially displayable fund-specific data to calculate a reliable score. This is not a negative assessment of the ETF.

ETFs on this site are scored by a separate, fund-specific model sourced from official SEC filings (Form N-PORT, N-CEN, Risk/Return Summary) when enough evidence exists -- this is not the same model or scale used for operating-company research pages. How it works →

Fund Overview

VCN is a broad Canadian equity index fund managed by Vanguard Investments Canada, designed to provide exposure across the full range of Canadian company sizes -- large, mid, and small capitalization -- rather than large-cap companies alone.

Index Strategy

VCN tracks the FTSE Canada All Cap Domestic Index, a market-capitalization-weighted index that includes small-capitalization companies in addition to the large- and mid-cap companies found in narrower Canadian equity indices. Index membership and weights are set by FTSE Russell, an independent third-party index provider.

Geographic Exposure

All underlying holdings are companies listed on Canadian exchanges across the full market-capitalization spectrum; the fund does not hold securities listed on foreign exchanges.

Principal Risks

As a market-capitalization-weighted index fund, VCN.TO carries sector-concentration risk common to the Canadian equity market generally -- particularly to the financials and energy sectors, which together represent a large share of most broad Canadian equity indices by weight. The fund also carries general equity-market risk and single-country risk, since its holdings are limited to companies listed in Canada rather than being globally diversified.
