Score Pending — Limited Data

We do not currently have enough commercially displayable fund-specific data to calculate a reliable score. This is not a negative assessment of the ETF.

ETFs on this site are scored by a separate, fund-specific model sourced from official SEC filings (Form N-PORT, N-CEN, Risk/Return Summary) when enough evidence exists -- this is not the same model or scale used for operating-company research pages. How it works →

Fund Overview

VFV is a U.S. large-cap equity index fund managed by Vanguard Investments Canada, giving Canadian investors exposure to U.S. large-cap stocks in Canadian-dollar-traded units without currency hedging.

Index Strategy

VFV tracks the S&P 500 Index, a market-capitalization-weighted index of 500 large U.S. companies across all major sectors. Index membership and weights are set by S&P Dow Jones Indices, an independent third-party index provider, and the fund's Canadian-dollar unit value moves with both the underlying index and the CAD/USD exchange rate.

Geographic Exposure

All underlying holdings are large-capitalization companies listed on U.S. exchanges; the fund's currency exposure to the U.S. dollar is not hedged back to the Canadian dollar.

Principal Risks

As a market-capitalization-weighted U.S. large-cap index fund, VFV.TO carries general equity-market risk, sector-concentration risk (large index-weight sectors such as technology can dominate the index), and unhedged currency risk, since its underlying holdings are denominated in U.S. dollars while the fund trades in Canadian dollars.
