Score Pending — Limited Data

We do not currently have enough commercially displayable fund-specific data to calculate a reliable score. This is not a negative assessment of the ETF.

ETFs on this site are scored by a separate, fund-specific model sourced from official SEC filings (Form N-PORT, N-CEN, Risk/Return Summary) when enough evidence exists -- this is not the same model or scale used for operating-company research pages. How it works →

Fund Overview

XEF is an international developed-markets equity index fund managed by BlackRock Canada, giving Canadian investors exposure to companies outside North America without exposure to emerging markets.

Index Strategy

XEF tracks the MSCI EAFE Investable Market Index, a broad, market-capitalization-weighted index spanning developed markets in Europe, Australasia, and the Far East across large-, mid-, and small-capitalization companies. Index membership and weights are set by MSCI, an independent third-party index provider. The fund's currency exposure to non-Canadian currencies is not hedged.

Geographic Exposure

Holdings are spread across developed-market countries in Europe, Australasia, and the Far East, excluding the United States and Canada; the fund's exposure is unhedged to those countries' local currencies.

Principal Risks

As a fund holding equities across multiple developed international markets, XEF.TO carries general equity-market risk, multi-country and multi-currency risk (returns are affected by exchange-rate movements between the Canadian dollar and each local currency), and geographic-concentration risk to the specific mix of countries and sectors that make up its target index at any given time.
