Score Pending — Limited Data
We do not currently have enough commercially displayable fund-specific data to calculate a reliable score. This is not a negative assessment of the ETF.
ETFs on this site are scored by a separate, fund-specific model sourced from official SEC filings (Form N-PORT, N-CEN, Risk/Return Summary) when enough evidence exists -- this is not the same model or scale used for operating-company research pages. How it works →

Fund Overview
XGD is a single-sector equity fund managed by BlackRock Canada, concentrated in gold-mining companies listed on Canadian exchanges that have global mining operations.
Index Strategy
XGD tracks the S&P/TSX Global Gold Index, a market-capitalization-weighted index of gold-mining and related companies listed in Canada. Index membership and weights are set by S&P Dow Jones Indices, an independent third-party index provider. The fund provides equity exposure to gold-mining companies, not direct exposure to the price of physical gold.
Geographic Exposure
Underlying holdings are companies listed on Canadian exchanges whose mining operations are located globally; the fund itself does not hold foreign-listed securities or physical bullion.
Principal Risks
As a single-sector Canadian equity fund, XGD.TO carries concentrated sector risk -- its return depends heavily on the business and commodity-price conditions affecting that one sector, rather than being diversified across the broader Canadian economy -- in addition to general equity-market risk and single-country risk.
